Ministry of Health decision makes archive outsourcing possible
On 17 April 2019, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia adopted new regulation that allows medical institutions to outsource their document storage, reversing a previous order that forced them to store their documents in-house. The decision was made after consultations with the National Archive and the Ministry of Justice.
“We are glad to see that the Ministry is recognizing the real benefits that our services can offer to medical institutions,” says Daan Harmsen, Dasta Records Management’s Chief Executive Officer. “We have long provided tremendous value to organizations in some of the most important sectors in Georgia’s economy, including the financial, hospitality, utility, nonprofit, pharmaceutical, and retail sectors, and are looking forward to providing the same value to the medical industry.”
The process to allow medical institutions to outsource their document storage was started after a request from Dasta, which was accompanied by several support letters from medical institutions that recognized the benefits of outsourcing document storage, and were eager to use Dasta’s services.
“Medical institutions are able to reduce operational risks, save money and space, and increase document management efficiency by outsourcing their document storage to Dasta,” says George Akhalkatsi, Dasta Records Management’s chairman. “When medical institutions outsource their document storage, they can use the space previously used for this purpose for their core activities instead, providing better service to patients and optimizing their revenues. We are grateful that the Ministry recognized this, and simplified existing regulation to make this possible.”
